On Thursday 2nd September 2021, heavy winds and rains caused many homes in the La Horquetta area and across the country to experience blown off roofs and other damages to their homes.

The Commission was on the ground on Friday 3rd September 2021, in the La Horquetta and Malabar area along with the Chairman of the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation Mr. Kwesi Robinson and the Commission’s CEO Elroy Julien.

The Commission will assist these families with ERRAGs valued up to $25,000 with immediate effect.

La Horquetta resident Shevaughn Alleyne says his family was awakened by loud noises and shortly after his roof was blown off, similar to at least seven (7) other roofs in the area.

Member of Parliament for D’Abadie/O’Meara Lisa Morris Julian, Councillor Lynette Ramacharan and Mayor of Arima Cagney Casimire along with the Commission’s CEO Elroy Julien, also made their way to the home of Richard Anthony Celestine in Malabar where around 12:25am this morning, powerful winds destroyed his home, including kitchen and living room. Mr Celestine will also receive an ERRAG valued up to $25,000.00

The Commission also visited Sangre Grande on that day.
